  • Roger Parsons, KK4UDU
    Vice President

    Treasurer
  • Russell Thomas, KV4S
    NWS Liaison
  • Justin Glass, N0ZO
    Secretary

Thank you to our outgoing officers, for your contributions and service to our community!

Did you know, that many, sometimes over half of  the deaths in the April 27, 2011 tornadoes were due to head injuries?

I’m Casey Benefield, and I will be the Point of Contact for ALERT’s table for Tornado Helmet Safety Night.

I’m looking for any and all ALERT Members who would like to volunteer to join us for that event, as we promote wearing a safety helmet when taking shelter from a tornado, as well as talk to people about Amateur Radio/ALERT’s role in weather events. Most of the work is passing out literature at the table. We may also be assisting the National Weather Service, for their table.

I will need to provide the leader of the event with our expected volunteer headcount, to inform Regions Field staff, so don’t delay if you would like to volunteer. 🙂

Status: So far, we have 5 volunteers, including myself.

Volunteers Arrive: Friday, April 29, 2016. 4:30PM (UPDATED). Free street parking may become scarce later on.
Additional Info
:

  • We ask that volunteers wear their ALERT shirts/apparel for this event.
  • Regions Field is providing us with the table and chairs.
  • Depending on how many volunteers we have, we may be able to work in smaller shifts.
  • The event may last as late as 8-9PM or slightly after, depending on the amount of foot traffic.

If you are an ALERT member, and want to volunteer, or if you have any questions, please feel free to contact Casey Benefield:
