July ALERT Facebook Updates

*Good afternoon ALERT Team and friends!*

At our last meeting on June 14, a change to how we handle Facebook was
approved. facebook.com/K4NWS will be ALERT's primary home on Facebook.

We started work to transition from the Facebook group (
https://www.facebook.com/groups/44030503839/) to a new, more powerful
Facebook Page (https://www.facebook.com/K4NWS).

*Updated Timeline:*

   1. DONE - Start directing everyone to the Like page. Accept no new
   members in the group itself.
   2. DONE - Email announcement to the ALERT Mailing List.
   3. 7/19/2016 - The old ALERT group page becomes read only.
   4. 7/26/2016 - The old ALERT group page becomes hidden.

*For members with voting rights only + NWS, there is another group that is
formed for internal chitchat, which we will invite you to (once we get a
listing together).*

*Advantages of the change include, not limited to:*

   1. Members and fans do not have to be approved.
   2. We can integrate some technology, such as automated warnings/watches.
   3. Choose to receive notifications, how frequent, if you like the
   weather alerts.
   4. Visitors can interact with the page via Instant Message or posts,
   including but not limited to getting details about ongoing weather.
   5. It makes moderation/content creation easier, automatic
   badword/content filter. (I remember one instance where that could have been
   useful. Spammers.)
   6. We can get a "verified" check mark, to show that this is the "real
   McCoy,"
