[Email1] ALERT Presentation

Hi everyone,
Just a random comment / reminder that ALERT never has used the ICS structure, since our served agency NOAA doesn't use it
.
Once upon a time when different organizations were heavily pushing for it's use (due to FEMA & EMA funding requirements) the idea was bounced around and a rough plan was that if it use was ever mandated by NOAA, that the Lead Forecaster on duty would be the Incident Commander and that ALERT would fall under Logistics.
When it was discussed there was a general consensus that the NWS / ALERT operations are one of those exceptional cases where such a rigid structure might prove to be a hindrance rather than a help.
Just a thought....

I can try to be there early. Let's shoot for 6pm if Casey can be there at that time. need to bring cameras too. I will try to explain better as to what I am wanting for our presentation. I really want this to be something in a very plain to understand presentation about ALERT and how we serve the NWS and our communities through Ham Radio. I don't want us to go too far into things about ARES or too deep into the ICS FEMA structures. We are going to be presenting this to other clubs whom should already know most of this anyway. This presentation should be a tool that can be used by virtually anyone that goes and represents ALERT. I would like to see this as more about what happens when a weather warning of some sort is issued and how we as ALERT react/respond and how the information that other hams provide is used and given directly to the meteorologists and stuff in that line.
We can discuss this better on Tuesday if we can get there early.
