Good Morning everyone. I hope you are all doing well.I just want to let you
know a few things before I head out of town this morning.
The timing of the weather event forecast for this evening and tonight has
shifted a bit sooner than originally though. It looks like it may impoact
central Alabama anywhere from 5pm, in the western counties, through 3am in
the eastern counties.
People are talking about this being a "fast moving event/system" and it
wont produce any damaging tornadoes....." I say this: It only takes some
damaging winds and a small tornado to bring destruction to someones
property and that is a bad event for them. I also remember the events of
April 27 2011, the 5am event moved through at almost 70 mph and the NWS
determined that there were some tornadoes in that event. My point is, check
your resources and look at what the true forecast is that is issued by the
NWS and be prepared to do your part to help as needed.
Even if there are not any "big/large/major" tornadoes forecast, straight
line winds can do significant damage too. Stay Alert this evening please.
I will return later this afternoon. Have a pleasant morning all.
