Hello everyone, I hope that your snowman stuck around long enough for you
to get pictures made with it.
I want to say THANK YOU to those who participated in the call-out requested
by the NWS yesterday.
We had 3 members of ALERT at the NWS office with 2 members on standby if
needed. Due to the nature of what was expectedin the way of winter weather,
the 3 who went to the office were prepared to stay overnight if needed. The
2 on standby were ready to respond in case one or two of the others needed
to leave.
The call-out was to cover the time of 3pm to midnight. We were actually
released from the NWS around 11:25 and secured the station at 11:30.
I thank The following members for their participation for this call-out:
Roger Parson KK4UDU
John Gray KF4LKO
Tom Overall WX4WIA
Lloyd Palmer N4GHP
Ronnie King WX4RON
Russel Thomas KV4S, normally handles the coordination of the call-out but
his phone service was having issues yesterday. We did still fill the need
as we handled the call-out.
Earlier in the week I had sent out an email lettin geveryone know the
wishes of the NWS at that point and it was to stay at our homes and provide
information through the chats and radio relays and such. Yesterday the NWS
had different thoughts on the best way to do what we train for and it all
worked out for the good, or so I think at least.
I do want to remind everyone that Severe Weather Awareness Week in Alabama
is Feb 16-21 2014. Don't forget that we are right around the corner for the
biggest severe weather season of the year. The NWS puts valuable
information on their website each day of this week for our benefits and I
ask you to take a look at this link and share it with friends, family and
those you care about:2014 Alabama Severe Weather Awareness Week is Feb
16-21! <http://www.srh.noaa.gov/bmx/?n=outreach_feb2014>
Thank you everyone for your time and for allowing me to be a part of the
team of ALERT.
