How We Operate

    Communications are provided using a variety of means,
    including heavy use of the amateur radio 2 meter, 220 and 440 MHz bands (including links and remote base systems), and HF radio.

    ALERT places heavy emphasis on training to insure effective emergency communications. Training sessions, including orientations at the NWS amateur station, are held regularly.

    All communications services are provided free of charge and without compensation or expectation of same, as required by CFR Part 97.
