ALERT MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION

        
Membership is open to any amateur radio operator with a commitment to providing emergency communications.
ALERT charges dues of $20/year (special rate of $10 for 
people over 65 and students).  

Three categories of membership are available:
        
         Operations member
         Someone who actively participates in ALERT
         functions by responding to NWS during severe
         weather activations.  On-scene operations at NWS
         is a requirement for this category.  Will be required
         to undergo occasional training at NWS.  Pays annual dues.

         Supporting member
         A member who does not go to NWS during 
         activations,  but who still actively supports ALERT 
         functions in other,  equally important ways.   This could 
         include serving as  an on-call scheduler, providing 
         communications from  a location other than NWS (HF 
         relay, etc.), assisting at  official ALERT functions such 
         as booth displays or by  providing specific task 
         assistance when requested.   Pays annual dues.

         Friend of ALERT
         Someone who supports ALERT but who is not able to
         be an active participant in functions or events.  This 
         category would be appropriate for people who live out 
         of town, who  are unable to take a direct role in events, 
         and/or who  subscribe to ALERT's e-mail list only.   
            No annual dues.
